  • Entrees That Shine: From the plant-forward Grilled Lions Maine / Great Northern Beans, Spinach, Lemon Omani to the indulgent New York Strip with Parsnip, Black Garlic Butter, and Beef Jus, every dish is designed to honor the local ingredients and flavors of Nevada County.

End your culinary adventure on a sweet note with our Pistachio Tiramisu, a delightful twist on a classic favorite.

Meet the Chef: A Culinary Visionary

Chef Scott McDonald’s journey is as rich and varied as the flavors on his plates. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, he honed his craft in world-renowned kitchens like Robert De Niro’s Tribeca Grill, Michelin-starred Oceana, and Talde. His cooking philosophy is as much about sustainability and regeneration as it is about flavor, aiming to heal the body, the mind, and the planet with every dish.

“I’m honored to join Stone House and contribute to the thriving community of Nevada County,” says Chef McDonald. “Gold Country has an incredible agricultural heritage, and I look forward to blending its local flavors with my commitment to sustainability. Together, we’ll offer a dining experience that honors both the land and its people.”

A Holistic Approach to Hospitality

At Stone House, we believe dining is about more than food—it’s about connection, mindfulness, and building bridges between our kitchen, community, and farms. Beyond the kitchen, Chef McDonald brings a holistic approach to his work. As a certified breathwork and meditation facilitator, he infuses every aspect of his culinary creations with mindfulness and care, crafting dishes that nourish the soul as much as the body.
